Ghawre Baire Aaj: Aparna Sen’s Directorial Is Official Selection At International Film Festival Of South Asia
Aparna Sen’s directed Ghawre Baire Aaj has brought another laurel to the team. The film is now an official selection at the international film festival of South Asia which will be held in Toronto. An adaption of  Rabindranath Tagore’s novel ‘Ghare Baire’, has been traveling to many film festivals and is being appreciated.

SVF tweeted, “We are delighted to announce that #GhawreBaireAaj is the Official Selection at the prestigious International Film Festival of South Asia - Toronto.” Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ stars Jisshu U Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, Tuhina Das in the lead roles.


The original novel story was set in pre-independent India in the time of Bengal’s partition but Aparna Sen has shifted the story to the current time. The story has three central characters Nikhilesh, his wife Bimala and his revolutionist friend Sandip. Sandip has a contradictory nature compared to Nikhilesh, he is more radical and active and Bimala gets easily attracted towards him for this. It leads to an extra marital love triangle.

It is a modern-day adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic novel Ghare Baire. The trailer opens with Tuhina Das introducing herself as the wife of Anirban Bhattacharya. The couple does love each other but Anirban also loves his work and sometimes takes it very seriously. Jisshu Sengupta is Anirban’s friend who comes to meet him and slowly becomes close to Tuhina. Then the trailer also shows protests scenes that involved all the three.Aparna Sen. Inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s novel Ghawre Bairey, this film captures the political and personal distress and tensions between two friends-turned-adversaries, amidst the tribulations of today’s world.The first look poster of the movie had been released. The poster shows socio-political turmoil introducing Nikhilesh, Bimala and Sandip played by Anirban Bhattacharya, Tuhina Das, and Jisshu Sengupta respectively.
